hahaha looking back to review this night i still laugh at
what a completely whacked experience it was. really alot of
negatives happened, but the night as a whole was still fun.
the evening started off great, i found some friends that
actually wanted to go and so had a cluster to hang with the
entire evening. a couple of them had to work though so i
chilled at a friends and played beta ultima online house
till everyone was ready. it got bit late for my tastes but
we finally got organized and headed out to the mappoint in
LA around 10:00ish pumped up, candied out, and ready for a
great night. little did we know :D.
finding the mappoint down around melrose was easier than
easy. there is nothing like a large clump of raver kidz
painting a gigantic x marks the spot on the urban landscape
of LA. we found parking easily and then to our chagrin
found the mappoint closed. rumors where flying all over the
place about the location of new mappoints, the party, and
alien abduction. our clump was like "to hell with this lets
find a phone and call the infoline", except the one tagged
phone there was dead. we finally through the divine
intervention of some girl that the party was at the sequoia
club back on fourth street in SANTA ANA (or was it LA?)!
which was 3 minutes away from where we had headed out from.
o man. our driver was amazingly calm. so we piled in and
headed back to santa ana, glowsticks whirling and
underworld blastin. after almost gettin popped on that
other "punch it LEE!" 4th street in LA we arrived safely
back at the sequoia club around 12:00ish.
and the drama continued...they were not letting people in
at the venue. and so we stood in line from about 12:00 till
2:00 amidst a near raver riot and packed humanity. then to
add salt to the wounds, once they did let us in, the
fascist security nearly stripped searched us all, not
allowing anything in, and so i had to quick ditch/give away
the 10 dollars or so of candy i had stocked up from a trip
to disneyland that day, not to mention my vivarin
grrrrr.
ok once inside though it was all good. the setup was nice
if a bit crowded and the place was going off despite the
crap we all had to go through to get in. the main gym room
was just rawkin too, awesome visuals and great dark hard
trance (at least by my newbie raver ear) by whoever was
spinning there. the "chillout area" was also very cool,
with almost no sound bleed so you could just kick it there
to talk and relax. great laser in there too. one last
splinter though is that they closed it down early, at 5:30
so all said and done it was only like a 3 hour party which
sucked for the high price.
props to lee, robert, soper and nick for a great time
despite all the crap that went down.
