sure it was a massive, sure maybe more than half the people
there were not true heads(?) or whatever (really stuff
meaningless to a newbie), but the fact of the matter was
that this was the perfect intro to the scene for me, with
its magnetic lineup of killer talent. man what a treat to
see system 7, moby, grooverider, loop guru, BT, empirion,
all the big names for the time+ plus local talent. after
trying to snag several friends into joining me and failing,
i said to hell with them and proceeded with my evening.
started off with the now traditional drop by coffee grove
in villa park to get caffeinated, and then headed down the
91, tapes blaring.
got to the san bernadino fairgrounds around 10:00pm,
bought a ticket and walked right in. good omens no line.
scoped the vendors, when the acts i wanted to see were
going on and then headed into the second structure, which
was bleeding bass into the night. i'd be lying if i said i
was not a little bit intimidated walking for my first time
into that roaring room of pulsating sound and mass of
bobbin people. the energy in there was intense. by fate it
was the hardcore area heheeh. i don't know who was spinning
but the beat was infectious, hard, and very very fast. so i
bopped around a bit, kicked it with a few strangers, and
had a blast enjoying the audio-visual overload. it was just
so completely different and better then any other sort of
concert/show/club/whatever i had experienced before yet i
felt at home instantly. the only bummer of the evening was
that none of my friends are technoheads so i had to go at
it alone but heck at raves thats slightly hackable thnk
goodness. time to go corrupt some friends.
